Firstly- tell us about your dress?

I went wedding dress shopping within a couple of weeks of getting engaged, and did not expect to find "the one" that day, or even for months! Originally I thought I wanted a fitted wedding dress, more of a mermaid shape. As I started trying on dresses however, I realized I didn't really like that shape on me. So I started looking at more A-line shapes, and I realized that both suited me better and just made me feel more comfortable. I had probably tried on 3-4 before I put mine on, and as soon as I zipped it up, it felt different. I absolutely loved the simple neckline, the fact that it had full straps, and the back detail was stunning! The Wedding Dress is Halfrida from La Sposa. I continued trying on a few more dresses, just to see what they were like, and I found another I also really liked (it had pockets!). I was extremely torn between the two, and Nollaig asked me if I wanted to try the La Sposa one on again. As soon as I put it on for the second time, I knew it was mine.

The Details

After picking my wedding dress and venue, my theme of "timeless elegance" emerged. Everything from then on fit in with that. I made a couple of small additions to my dress, but didn't want to overdo it as I wanted to stay within the timeless elegance. I added a small little piece of sparkle to the front, and I added buttons all down the back. To have a slightly different look between the ceremony and afters, I wore a small bolero for the ceremony. I bought that separately in America and luckily it was the perfect shade of ivory!

The Bridal Party

The colors of the wedding were different shades of purple. I had 4 bridesmaids, and they wore high-lo Alfred Sung dresses. The necklines all matched mine to compliment my dress. 3 bridesmaids were in a lavender and the Maid of Honor was in a plum color. Likewise, we had 4 groomsmen. We dressed the 4 groomsmen in grey suits, and the groom was in navy. The groom had ivory accessories to match me, and the groomsmen matched the bridesmaids. So 3 groomsmen had lavender accessories, and the best man had plum accessories. The father of the bride and the godfather of the groom also had matching grey suits and lavender accessories. All the men's suits were custom made from Indochino in America, with their names on the inner lining.

Advice for other Brides

Decide early on what the most important parts of your day are, and keep that in mind as you plan and make a budget. Decide if you want to focus on the music, on the food, on the photography/videography, higher # of guests, etc. Pick your couple of things, and then let the rest go. I knew I wanted good music, venue and photography/videography, but I didn't care about the likes of the cake and was a lot more relaxed when it came to flowers and decor. It really helps to prioritize once you have set aside the most important pieces.

Advice for the day

Enjoy it! Let go of all your stress, don't worry about any of the little things that might go wrong. I delegated EVERYTHING to the groom & groomsmen the day before the wedding, and told them I didn't want to hear if a single thing went wrong, as all that mattered was that we were getting married.

What was your most memorable moment of your special day?

Specifically, we chose to write our own vows so that was a really special part of the day. We did not tell them to each other beforehand, so it was lovely to hear those for the first time.

Overall, I think the thing I remember the most is just the euphoric feeling of how happy I was. That memory of absolute bliss that the day had finally come. I didn't care when it rained or when little things went wrong, as all that mattered was we were married. Someone told me at one point "You have not stopped smiling all day!" and I answered "why on earth would I? It's the best day of my life!"

Congratulations from everyone here at Pearls & Lace Bridal and all the best for the future Xx
