Firstly- tell us about your dress?
I was so nervous going dress shopping. I had booked to go to two shops in one day, and thought I had found my dream dress in the first one. I took my mum, my sisters and my bridesmaids shopping with me and we all loved it. But we kept our appointment with Pearls And Lace anyway, and my goodness I'm so glad I did! I tried on various dresses there, none of which were as nice as the first dress. Then Carol came in with a dress I hadn't seen and convinced me to try it on even though I wasn't very keen on it. From the minute I looked in the mirror, I knew it was the dress for me!! All thoughts of the other dress were gone!
I really loved how it looked on me, and the slight hint of blush on the lace. My bridal party all agreed it was exactly my style. It was by Stella York and was the 14th dress I'd tried.
The overall theme for the wedding was Harry Potter as we're both massive fans! I had bought my wedding shoes from Irregular Choice, as soon as I'd gotten engaged, a long time before I'd even booked the wedding! So luckily the dress matched them! I had my headpiece handmade by a lady I'd met at a wedding fair, with matching ones for my bridesmaids.
I tried to incorporate my "Something borrowed" in my accessories, so my veil was borrowed from my sister Lindsay, and my jewellery was borrowed from my mother in law. My mum bought me a different jewellery set to match my engagement ring, which I changed into in the evening.
My flowers were from The Flower Shop, Stranorlar, who were so helpful in suggestions for my flowers. They also made my mum and sisters fascinators to match their outfits! I had an idea in my head what I wanted, but they really brought everything to life. They also used a locket belonging to my mum in my bouquet as my "Something old".
The Bridal Party
I got my bridesmaids dresses in Simone's in Sligo and just let them choose their own shoes. I really wanted my bridesmaids to be comfortable throughout my day. I absolutely loved the style of their dresses and how they suited all three of my girls despite being different shapes and sizes.
The groom and groomsmens suits from Moss Bros. Tobias wanted to wear the same suit as his groomsmen, but we decided for both our fathers to wear their own suits.
Advice for other Brides
I would advise other brides to relax and enjoy their day, it flies. Take a few minutes at the top table to look around and appreciate all your guests, and take a few moments away from everybody with your new husband to say I Love You. It's such a hectic time you can feel you've barely seen your husband!
We enjoyed every single moment of the day! But it was lovely to just have a moment to ourselves traveling between the church and the reception.
What was your most memorable moment of your special day?
It's hard to pin down one exact moment, as our entire day was a dream! Walking up the aisle to see Tobias and his parents crying their eyes out, sitting at the top table seeing how much fun our guests were having, staying on the dancefloor to the very end of the night and finishing it all off with a good big Irish sing song!!
Congratulations from everyone here at Pearls & Lace Bridal and all the best for he future Xx
