Firstly- tell us about your Wedding Dress?
The dress I had was the opposite to what I had originally thought. I wanted something that was more of an A-Line skirt, maybe a little lace but not too much and definitely not a fit and flare style wedding dress. Pearls and Lace was the first bridal store we visited so it was all a very new experience. When I went in my two sisters, sister-in-law and mum was with me and they all picked out one dress each and they were all beautiful but nothing took my breath away, and the A-Line skirt did nothing for me at all so that was very quickly ruled out!! Then Sarah from Pearls & Lace says "we have a new dress just in and I would like you to try it on just to see" When she brought the dress in my sister says all she heard through the curtain was me saying "wow that's beautiful" It was the Stella York 6496 fit and flare style wedding dress. I loved it from the moment I tried it on, I loved the detail on the train and the lace at the back and I loved the shape of it on me. As we had another appointment that afternoon Sarah wrote down all the details for me and told me to go and try on more wedding dresses and see how I feel and the dress will still be here if I decided to go for it. That afternoon I tried on lots more dresses but nothing compared to the Stella York wedding dress in Pearls & Lace I tried on that morning, I decided to give it the weekend but I knew it was the one so I phoned up on Monday morning and ordered it.
I went for a very classic simple style. My shoes were Ted Baker, for my Jewellery I went with a pearl bracelet and a drop pearl earring. My flowers were by the amazing Shirley Doherty from Love Blooms. We were very lucky that my sister-in-law from Cove Cake Design is a very talented wedding cake baker based in Dublin and she styled our cake to match the lace of my dress and complemented it with sugar flowers to match our bouquets.
The Bridal Party
We also purchased our bridesmaids dresses from Pearls and Lace. My two sisters spotted the dress the day I was in trying on my dress, it was really important to me that the girls loved their dress too. Pearls & Lace had a beautiful selection of bridesmaid dresses and they could have picked from loads of them. We went for the True Bride dresses, the dresses were stunning and the girls loved them.
The boys hired their suits from EJ menswear in Sligo.
Advice for other Brides
Don't sweat the small stuff. Enjoy the nights out, the glasses of bubbly and all of the build up. It's only one day and it'll be over before you know it.
What was your most memorable moment of your special day?
I remember sitting at the top table just after we were brought into the ballroom in Harvey's Point and looking around the room and thinking there's something very special about everyone being here for us to share our day. Suddenly all the worries about dresses and table plans etc seemed very unimportant!
Congratulations from everyone here at Pearls & Lace Bridal and all the best for the future Xx
