When should you start shopping for your wedding dress?

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Have some questions for us? Don't worry, wedding dress shopping is new for everyone and we’re here to help! From appointments to styles, wedding dress alterations, we're happy to help you with everything you need to know about shopping for wedding dresses in Ireland in Pearls and Lace.

Do I need to have an appointment to try on wedding dresses?

Yes, we want to ensure you have an amazing memories of shopping for your wedding dress. Appointments are required so we can allocate one of our gorgeous private fitting suites and also so we can ensure one of bridal stylists is available to assist you. To make an appointment, you can visit our Appointment page or call us at 0749723341

How long will my appointment last?
Our wedding dress appointments are 90 minutes long. This allows you enough time to browse through our wedding dresses, try on your favourite five gowns, have the opportunity for your stylist to help you chose some more and retry your favourite dress before deciding on which dress is “the one.” We never want you to feel rushed, which is why we’ve allocated a full hour and a half for your appointment.

What is the price range of the dresses at your store?

Our wedding dresses range from €1500 to approximately €3900. The vast majority of our styles are between €1900 and €2400. We'll always check your budget before you come and your bridal stylist will work closely with you to ensure you are comfortable with the price range of gowns selected.

What should I bring with me to my appointment?

We recommend bringing a pair of  shoes that are comfortable (as you will be standing a lot when trying on) and that are a similiar heel height to what you want to wear on your wedding day for you to try with our dresses. We do recommend bringing along some pictures of any dress styles you've tried/ liked online or any you have seen on our website which you'd like to try. This all helps us help you find your dream wedding dress!

What should I wear to a wedding dress appointment?

We recommend wearing nude underwear and a strapless bra if you have one. Although, with low back wedding dresses so on trend, many of them have bras built in so don't worry too much about this.

How many guests can I bring?

We know that shopping for a wedding gown is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, and finding “the one” should be a special, memorable moment, shared with your closest family and friends. Our fitting rooms can comfortably seat up to 3 guests along with the bride. This number of guests also keeps us inline with covid regulation pods.

What size wedding dress samples to you have in store?
Our sample dresses range from size 10-24. Our plus size collection specialises in gowns between size 18 and 24.

If you've any queries or concerns about our sizing, we'd love you to get in touch when we'll be able to advise on specific sizes of gowns you like, general fit and more.

Are alterations included in the cost of the dress?
Alterations are not included. Nearly all wedding dresses require a hem, a bustle and additional tailoring through the bust or torso to achieve the perfect fit. Some brides even use alterations to customize sleeves, straps, necklines and other details. Alteration prices will differ from gown to gown. We have wonderful dressmakers that we can recommend to you, who work regularly with Pearls and Lace brides both locally in Donegal and throughout Ireland for those brides travelling to find their dress with us.

I’m not from Donegal. Can I still make an appointment at Pearls and Lace?
Of course! We'd love to have you. We serve brides from all over Ireland and Northern Ireland. We regularly have brides travel to see us from all over Ireland. We are approx 3 hours drive from Dublin, an hour from Sligo, Derry & Letterkenny. We promise it's worth the trip to see us!

Still have questions? No problem! We'd love you to get in touch by email at hello@pearlsandlace.ie or give us a call on 0749723341 to speak to one of our bridal stylists.
